The Dolphin

I've honestly never heard the experience of swimming with dolphins put so eloquently and accurately...love this, made me feel peaceful just reading it.

Have you swum with a friendly dolphin
When the day dawns clear and bright,
And seen his welcoming leap of joy,
As you leave the harbour and pass the buoy?
That's pure delight.
Have you swum with a friendly dolphin,
Dozing under the noonday sun,
and stroked his belly so smooth and strong,
Or felt yourself being towed along
In elfin fun?
Have you swum with a friendly dolphin
In the sunset's fiery glow,
When every wavelet is tinged with gold,
And his silhouette, so huge and bold,
Is a graceful bow?
Have you swum with a friendly dolphin
As the silvery moon rides high,
And ocean and earth are bathed in white,
And the dolphin's aglow with a phosphorous light,
As he glides by?
Have you swum with a friendly dolphin
In the North Sea's rolling swell?
Or a choppy squall, as a cloud passed by,
And a leaden greyness darkened the sky,
And raindrops fell?
Have you swum with a friendly dolphin
And a boatload of friends of a kind?
The harmony linking you all, and him,
As you tumble out of the boat for a swim -
It blows your mind.
Have you swum with a friendly dolphin
And known your panic allayed?
Be it ladders or snorkels - whatever your fear -
Perhaps the oceans depth; once the dolphin's near
You're not afraid.
Yes, I've swum with a friendly dolphin
In the moonlight, the sun and the rain;
And the varying moods of the ocean swell
And my life will never - I know full well -
Be the same again.
ready for school

As I mentioned, we've spent the last few weeks getting organised for the imminent return to school, we've been to the school outfitters, the stationers, every shoe shop within a twenty mile radius, we've sewn on badges, labels, paired socks, sharpened pencils, packed bags, trimmed hair, organised timetables....
Of course, goes without saying Deions special bathroom, toilet chair, changing table, hoists, slings, tables, care workers, key workers, classroom assistants, storage, fire evacu chairs, care plan, physio plan, O.T. plan, is all in place (the usual!!!)
But we are ready, two days to go and they are all abandoning me again... mixed emotions for me...I shall spend the first hour wandering around the house enjoying peace and quiet, then I shall clean and scrub for the next three, then I shall start missing them and counting down to four o clock, where they will all stampede through the house like a herd of elephants, or in Deion's case a demon driver....then I shall start counting down the hours until they leave for school again the next morning.
Hard to please...who me???

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, will begin today, 26th January 2009. It is the main Chinese festival of the year and is not a religious event.
As the Chinese use the lunar calendar for their festivals the date of Chinese New Year changes from year to year. The date corresponds to the new moon (black moon) in either late January or February. Traditionally celebrations last for fifteen days, ending on the date of the full moon. In China the public holiday lasts for three days and this is the biggest celebration of the year.
The Year of the Ox
The Chinese calendar is different from that used in the United Kingdom. It is made up of a cycle of twelve years, each of them being named after an animal. This is very much like our signs of the zodiac. Some people believe that people born in a particular year will have some of the characteristics of that animal. January 26th 2009 marks the start of the Year of the Ox. On the Chinese calendar the new year will be 4707.
As thousands of people greet the Year of the Ox today, many believe a little help from the animal's hard-working spirit may be just what's needed in the months ahead.
According to Chinese belief, the Ox is a symbol of wealth and success through hard work and resilience -- a welcome sign right now considering the country's economic difficulties.
Over a sixth of the people in the world celebrate Chinese New Year. Customs vary in different parts of the world, but everywhere the main idea is the same....
