Forever Friends!
Friday, 6 February 2009
I recently met up with an old friend of mine on face book. We’re going to get together in a couple of weeks time and I am really looking forward to it.
It’s certainly got me thinking about all the things we got up to when we were kids. We went through the tree climbing stage together when we were nine or ten, later we discovered make-up together, glitter eye shadow, ra ra skirts...and then…boys; and we used to spend our days wandering around the village we grew up in, practicing our Madonna dance moves, or milling around the town centre window shopping. We had our first drink of alcohol together…and yep…threw up together!
It makes me wonder about all the other friends I’ve lost touch with over the years, all the people that were so important to us at one point in our lives, the people we said we’d be friends with forever.
Life just moves too fast I guess. I got married and moved to London, we both had kids, the school run and grabbing any spare moment for some much needed sleep took over the need for the phone calls to catch up.
Over the years the phone calls got less and less, and dare I say it, it’s been over ten years since I have spoken to the person people used to call my Siamese twin.
We’ve certainly got some catching up to do, I just hope we recognize each other without the diabolical eighties fashion and over permed hair!!!
