can you really let superstition run your life

I got a phone call today, offering Deion a cancellation appointment for tomorrow...of course, I was thrilled, it hardly ever happens that you get an appointment earlier than you expect.
The woman did double check that I didn't mind coming, and repeated the date 'Friday the thirteenth.'
"Ermm, no, no problem," I said a Little confused.
It turns out that the person who cancelled, did so because of the date and the other person who has been waiting longer than us, didn't want the appointment because of the date.
I don't know about you, but this seems a bit ridiculous to me, what do some people do, sit indoors wrapped in cotton wool that day.
My view is 'superstitions only have power if you believe in them'
I don't believe in them.
But, hey, I guess, for Deion's sake, I should be glad some people do!

Funny; I had my youngest child by Cesarean on a Friday the 13th. The date opened cuz no one wanted it and they repeated the date to me on the phone like: Listen up, this will be your kid's birthday. (I was bleeding and needed delivery to be soon)
Anyway, I had massive complications and wound up in ICU. I'm not really superstitious, but I wouldn't voluntarily go under the knife on that day again...

yea.. sorry, but i think it's TOTALLY stupid...
once back when i was in high school.. i had a teacher say that if she ever saw a black cat on the highway she would turn around and run it over.. yea, she was serious... it somewhat STILL astounds me to this day...

We were engaged on the 13th, married on the 13th, live on lot 13 of block 13. I think 13 is a great number. I also have 2 granddaughters born on the 13th of 2 different months.

LOL yeah I agree. I am not big into superstions like that but I do have a few things. Like the knock on wood aspect. I don't know why I just do.

My birthday falls on the auspiciously shunned number 13th and I have had a fair share of years when it would be on Friday the 13th. I guess I am proof that this superstition is just that in that I have survived said dates without any major incidents. On the other hand, I remain poor as a churchmouse......
