Oh I’m so mad!!!

Friday 19 June 2009

Deion went to a party today, he loves his friends parties, he likes to dance, eat and flirt with the girls…he always comes home hyper (from all the junk food and pop)and laughing with tales of being a cool dancer…today he came home sad…oh he put a brave face on it, but I knew something was up. So he told us….

First, let me give you some background, Deion has a special cab/mini bus cos its mainstream school…but where we live, the kids who go to special needs school get on big blue busses, Aaron used to get on one. Some little brats are horrid and call them blue bus kids to be cruel…or even worse, I can’t even type it without my blood boiling… 'window lickers’

You know where this is going don’t you…

Yep, one little bastard (sorry can’t put it any better), an older boy, friend of a friend at the party called Deion a ‘window licker’... now of course, the party girls dad had a go, all Deion’s friends stood up for him, but it hurt him.

Now of course, my initial reaction was to find out where he lives, go round there and give him and his parents (who should have taught him better quite frankly) a piece of my mind. I am spitting mad, and I will do this, once I have calmed down enough to know I wont murder them!

But I have to play it down because Jordan and Robyn are so mad, they are ready to maim! They know who he is, and as he is the same age as Robyn, she has reasoned that it’s okay, to go round his house and kick his ass!!! And I have no doubt she could too! Of course, this upset Jordan, who doesn’t want to miss out on the ass kicking! Which in turn made Deion say he should get to do it…and now they are all competing with the best ways to make this boys life a misery…Deion is all for running him over and reversing over him, I am tending to agree.

So they may be laughing about it…but the truth is, at 15, he should know better than to pick on an eleven year old…as Deion said, I don’t care if he was mean to me because he didn’t like me, or because I was younger…but not because of my chair…

Quite frankly, I’m terrified of what kind of prejudice he will meet as he goes through secondary school. We are telling him how to deal with it the best way we can, but is it enough, he’s a confident happy kid, but this knocked his confidence…

Okay, I’m off to find out this address…I wonder if they’ll let me post from prison, what do you think?

this breaks my heart for him... but to me, it sounds like he's rather strong and that he's got great parents that raised him wonderfully! happy friday....

I am sure I am going to catch all sorts of flak for this but, kids are more resilient then we give them credit for. Yes his feelings are hurt and yes it was very mean of this boy to say what he did. However, if your son sees your anger, he is going to feed off of that and remain angry himself. Ask him how it made him feel and then calmly ask him how he wishes to handle it. If he wants you to act on his behalf then you do so. If he asks you not to, then do whatever it takes to swallow your anger and respect your son's wishes. He may want to let it go so he can move on past it. Something he will not be able to do if everyone around him is still beating the drum over it.

Just my opinion folks. Beat me up if you feel the need to.

Sorry Tom, gotta disagree with you there. Having come from a lifetime of bullying I say KICK HIS FRIGGING ARSE, and then KICK HIS PARENTS ARSE for raising him to be a right GIT.

Was that english enough Sally? Been reading Harry Potter, and picked up a few terms

When I was 10, a neighbor boy called me a 'cripple' (I wasn't even on crutches yet) in front of 4 of my brothers...in our own backyard! They immediately jumped on him (literally), demanding that he take it back.

Over the next 10 years, he apologized 4 times. The last time was when we (2 brothers and I) went to a restaurant and he was our waiter. lol!

I handled this kind of thing with humor. Making fun of the the person always worked for me. Ex: in high school, a punk asked, "What would you do if I grabbed that crutch (that I was leaning on) from you?" I calmly replied, "I'd smack you with the other one." I couldn't have done it but he didn't know that.
All his friends laughed and he slunked away, never to bother me again.

If I was Deion, I might have said, "Window licker...ahh, how original." Making fun of the person making fun of you should take the wind out of their sails.

But I would still talk to this kid's parents. If they don't nip it in the bud, he's going to say the wrong thing to the wrong person and get his @$$ kicked...on the other hand, he needs it.

Since you posted little Miss Robyn kicking some major tail, I say let them at him! No, seriously though, my heart hurts just reading this. I hate that anyone has to deal with situations like this.

Please don't end up in prison, I will miss your blog terribly as all the silliness keeps me sane!

Sal, I'm soo sorry. Kids really are cruel. Think I've blogged about Amelia's horrible year and the cruel things they've done and and her only handicap is Dyslexia!

It is up to us Mom's to defend our children, but we also have to teach by example. We tread a thin line! I hate confronting parents, but they may not realize that their precious child is saying such hurtful things.

Good luck in this, tell Deion he is AWESOME.

Yes, by all means give him some snappy come-backs he can use, but I do agree you should talk to the parents. We never know when we'll make an impression and make someone think twice in the future. Part of his purpose (and yours) may be to open some minds and make a difference. Good Luck!

Thanks for all you advice, we did speak to deion, and ask how he wanted to handle it, he was amazing, he said i should go and speak to his mum because next time he might say it to another child who would be really hurt or had no-one to stick up for him.

I guess its about education, Deion goes to a great school, where they are taught well, inclusion means inclusion, so he doesn't get kids teasing him there, not for his chair anyway. LOL!

i worry so much about secondary school being different and kids being cruel...we do need to get to all parents and educate them.

Robyn is still hell bent on giving this kid a piece of her mind, i have told her no violence (half heartedly, i'll admit).

Deions thought of a few good comebacks, he is actually very quick witted, so maybe he'll be ready next time, i think this was a shock to him, as it was a bit of a first...he knows how to deal with the staring, thats more usual...

the truth is, he's gonna have to deal with predudice all his life...sad as it is, so he needs to know how to deal with it and not allow it to happen...and remain confident in himself...

thanks for all your support, it means so much. xxx

Okay, now I'm pissed. If I wasn't terrified to fly over water, I would be looking up this little asshole's address (if I knew his name, of course) having a come to Jesus with him!!

I chased two kids down the street barefooted with my maxi skirt hiked up a few days ago for calling one of my daughter's friends a fag. Then I yelled, "Yeah, you better take your little punk ass home" and realized a bunch of people were out working in their yards (not in my ghetto hood) and looking at me crazy.

candace, LOL, a woman after my own heart, i had a chat with the mum, she was even more ignorant that her shit of a son... she opened the door in a dirty joggin suit with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth. i still went to town on her, she looked blank, so i told her i'd speak slowly, as she was obviously of low intelligence, still blank, i gave her the lecture...she shrugged, said kids will be kids, so i told her, that her child would be getting more than he bargained for if i ever found out he had said the same thing to someone else!!!

she swore a couple of times, i swore back, but quietly, made a few cutting remarks and left...

did it do any good...i dunno, but i feel like i've said my piece and stuck up for deion...
