8 meals a day my @r$e

Saturday 25 April 2009

A Miss Universe Australia finalist has hit back at claims she is too thin, saying she is happy with her body and eats up to eight meals a day.

Stephanie Naumoska is 5ft 9in tall, weighs seven-and-a-half stone and her gaunt appearance shocked some onlookers at the contest in Sydney.

The 19-year-old model has a reported body mass index of 15 - making her malnourished by World Health Authority standards.

Ms Naumoska was one of 32 girls from more than 7,000 hopefuls to make the final, which promotes "healthy, proportioned, bodies".

Oh for goodness sake, here we go again, another supposedly beautiful woman parading around like a human corpse...if this woman eats 8 meals a day my name is miss piggy!!! this woman has not seen 8 meals THIS YEAR!!!! and they probably consisted of a grape and a strawberry....how many more times are we going to put these stick insects on the TV and have our daughters think this is how they are supposed to look...its irresponsible in the extreme.

This is not healthy, its not beautiful, and this woman is not going to lie a long life if she keeps starving her body of nutrients...

This is anorexia people...don't stick her on stage in a bikini that would fit a one year old with a face full of make-up..get her some food, a psychiatrist to find out why she's abusing herself and HELP HER!!!!

Maybe in Somolia! I'd give her 50 #'s. And then, I'd still weigh more than her!

If my knowledge is correct: 1 stone = 14 pounds(?), she's 105 pounds. I know a woman who is 5'6 and 120 pounds. She's slim and looks healthy. Protruding bones are not healthy.

she may eat 8 meals a day, she also purges those same 8. this is just further fuel for my new anti-pageant mission. i guess if she's happy, fine, but for the pageant to even pretend to be promoting healthy bodies??? shame on them.

and, i can't imagine what she must look like in person... you know they say the camera adds 10 lbs.

I could never sleep with a woman like that. Or as Sally would say, "Moan while having bad dreams" I would be afraid of snapping her in two if things got a little heated.

Totally agree with you!!! My 12 year old daughter is worried because the kids tell her she is 'fat'!!

She is just right! What are we doing? There is a big difference between obese, healthy, and malnourished!

    Keep up the informational posting.
    Good for you Sally.
Tom, my husband would agree with you!

Yes. It is a disturbing image. She is certainly not a good role model for young girls.
So sad. She is probably very unhealthy too and she is a beautiful girl but would be more beautiful with about 20 more pounds on her!

thanks for your comments everyone, it's just something i feel so strongly about, i am scared for young girls and how they view their bodies...imagine how beautiful this woman would be if she had a few curves and cheeks that weren't concave...

You are forgetting that some people are skinny, and cannot put on weight no matter how they try.

okay, so if this woman is in the 0.000000001 percent of the population who actually struggle to gain weight through natural motabalism...thats fair enough, but still, don't put her on the stage to make it seem normal/natural or beautiful.

honestly, how many of these malnourished models do you think are struggling, trying to gain weight????

another example of how the media is trying to relabel what is an obviously a skinny woman a desirable role model. I often note when i watch TV and films women who are known to be beautiful look like have missed more than a few meals.

the power of the media (all forms) does shape our perceptions on what we see as beautiful and as healthy. I think on some level the media give us what we really want, otherwise, why do we continue buy the magazines, watch the movies and TV shows?

This is terrible! These women do have an influence on our daughters whether they realize it or not. Fashion needs to make drastic changes.

Yes, I agree, that is so very disgusting and there is NO WAY she has 8 meals a day. Sorry, one grape doesn't count as a meal. I don't see how anyone can see that as sexy, gross!!!
